postheadericon Windows does not start bsod user32.dll missing after avg virus removal

    PROBLEM:

windows does not start. Windows gives a BSOD while booting saying “ user32.dll missing “

    SOLUTION:

NB: You should only do this if you understand what you are about to do here

There are several solutions to this problem:

    1. For windows vista

Insert your vista CD and boot from it and let it repair your installation.

    2. For windows XP

insert your XP cd and boot from it, using the R option to repair your installation we can now enter the text “ copy c:\windows\system32\dllcache\user32.dll c:\windows\system32\ “

If there is no dllcache with user32.dll in it use the cd, go to the dir x(cddrive):\i386\ and type " expand user32.dl_ c:\windows\system32\ “

    3. The last option is to use a live boot cd to preform a system restore, after this boot in safe mode and remove AVG without cleaning out the virus vault.

    4. For more references look on the AVG support site http://www.avg.com/support

    CONCLUSION:

If you are using AVG they did a wrong update making user32.dll come up as a valid virus.

When you choose to remove this file your pc won't be able to boot anymore. And you will have to replace it with a new copy.
