postheadericon Keyboard and mouse do not work in windows xp Code 32

    PROBLEM:

Your keyboard and or mouse suddenly stopped working and are giving the error code 32 in device manager

    SOLUTION:

This solution worked for me, follow these steps:

    1. See to it that you can use an USB mouse and or keyboard ( if keyboard does not work use the on-screen keyboard option in start>accessories>accessibility )

    2. Open RUN and type REGEDIT then click OK.

    3. Go to HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services and look for the folder i8042prt.

    4. In the value start there should be 1 ( on my pc it was 4 ) i changed it to 4.

    5. Reboot

    Thank you very much!

I set 1 to the "start" value of HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\i8042prt and my keyboard works fine.

Your step 4. is not clear, cause you wrote you changed it to 4
but I believe you mean, that you change it to 1, as you wrote:
"In the value start there should be 1..."

    However, Thanks for the help.
    glad it worked
