postheadericon 32-bit windows does not show 4GB RAM

    PROBLEM:

When you upgrade to 4GB or more ram memory on a 32bit operating system it will only use 3GB

    SOLUTION:

There is only one solution and that is to use a 64-bit operating system.

A 32 bit system can only adress 3,2GB of system memory, this number can vary because the memory of the videocard is also included.

Windows vista with Service pack 1 does show the full 4GB but everything above 3gb is not being used.

There is also a workaround for this problem called using the PAE but it does not work on every system and its known to make the system unstable and i do not recommend it in any way.

    CONCLUSION:

If you really want more then 3GB of system memory you will HAVE to use a 64-bit operating system.
