postheadericon Installing a linksys PSUS4 printserver on vista / 7

    HOWTO:

    1. First of all see to it that the printer works locally on an USB port, if this works connect the printserver with the router. You can use any of the 4 RJ45 ports,

then plug the printer USB cable into the printserver

    2. Run the setup wizard on the disc that came with the package.

    setupwizard1

     3. Click on the setup wizard button to start.

     setupwizard2

    4. If all is fine the wizard will have noticed the printserver and it will appear in the list.If you already configured it once before select "List all compatible Print Servers"

Select the print server and click next.

     setupwizard3

    5. The wizard will prompt you for the password, by default this is "admin", without the quotes ofcours.

     setupwizard4

    6. Enter a desired  device name, Enter a domain or workgroup name. (if you don't know that name go to start > right click computer > properties it should be listed here as domain/workgroup name). after you filled this in click NEXT.

    setupwizard5

     7. Here you can set an IP manually or automatic. If you don't know what this is all about put it on automatic. (but i would recommend manually)

If you choose to enter your own IP make sure the GATEWAY has the IP of your router. To find out your router ip hit the windows key+R and type CMD and press ok.

Enter the text IPCONFIG and hit ENTER here your gateway should be listed (usually 192.168.1.1))

    printwizard6

    8. Now you can set a desired password if you wish, then click next.

    setupwizard7

    9. See if all thedata is correct and click on YES. The setup wizard should finish up, but we are not done yet!

    19. Type in any desired printer name and click NEXT.

    20. I would suggest to select "Do not share this printer" as we have no need to share it twice. ( the print server takes care of that on its own )

    addprinter11

    21. Our last step! woohoo. Set it as default printer if you wish, and try to print a test page. If this works click FINISH and we are all done!
